Pearce Art Teacher Honored at “Art
at the Eisemann”
J.J. Pearce Art teacher Don Longo
is being honored with other RISD Art teachers by having
selections of his art displayed at the Eisemann
Center. Sponsored by the Cottonwood Art Festival, the
exhibition runs through September 30th. Mr.
Longo has been painting since he was a young boy. His
first drawing was the front of his grandmother’s
tombstone at the age of ten. When it was accepted by
the company that designed the stone, he was inspired to
continue drawing. Don grew up in the shadow of one of
America’s greatest artists, Norman Rockwell in Lee,
Massachusetts. Don even had the opportunity on several
occasions to watch Mr. Rockwell paint in his studio.
After attending college in Massachusetts, majoring in
art, Don came to Texas and began teaching at Pearce High
School.

RECORD YOUR SEPTEMBER VOLUNTEER
HOURS NOW!
Simply go to the PTA website at
www.jjpearcepta.org and click on 'Volunteer Hours' OR
email your name, the dates and hours you worked and the
activity to one of the email addresses below. Volunteer
Hours include attending meetings, baking, and helping
with fundraisers such as the Mum Store or any Booster
Club or school event—anything that you or your student
does for Pearce that does not result in a grade. Always
include 15 minutes driving time to and from school—and
keep track of the time you spend running errands on
behalf of a school event. You may record your hours in a
combined total and enter a general description of your
activities. Remember, the NUMBER of hours is much more
important than a detailed description of the volunteer
activity! If you have already signed in at the Mum Store
or at another event, those hours have already been
submitted and should not be duplicated.
