Pearce Excellence in Education
Fund
Fundraising for the 2007- 2008 school year for the
Pearce Excellence in Education Fund is off to a great
start. Thanks to the Pearce families and
community
members who have already responded to the annual
solicitation letter from the Pearce Excellence in
Education Fund, or who gave after
attending one of the
Fall information meetings. This years’ goal is
$65,000 and $41,000 has been raised to date.
Every dollar will be used to
enhance the teaching and
learning environment at Pearce, to make sure our school
continues to be recognized both locally and nationally
for their academic programs and student success.
This
year we are striving for 100% participation from Pearce
families- no amount is too small! To remind families to
send in their checks, PEEF board
members are making
calls to every Pearce family, answering questions about
the Fund, and encouraging participation. Even if you
lost your letter, you
can send a check made out to PEEF
to: Pearce High School, 1600 N. Coit Rd. , Richardson,
TX 75080 – Attn PEEF.

BASKETBALL MANIA HITS PEARCE GYM!
Tuesday night was a warm up for the big HP game on
Friday. The Mustangs cruised to an easy 88-41
victory with everyone on the team getting in to the
scoring action. Trevoy
Dunn
and Papi
Kaba had a great night each scoring
14 while Chris Bowie contributed 13.
The Highland Park game on Friday lived up to the
hype. With TV cameras the Dallas Morning News on
hand, the Mustangs put on quite a show. After a
slow
start, the Stangs found their pace and kept the fans
on the edge of their seat. The packed house was
rockin as half-time had the Mustangs and
Scots
knotted at 16. The awesome defensive battle
continued throughout the 2nd half, but foul trouble
and costly turnovers late in the game would
cost
Pearce the win as the Mustangs went down
45-37.
We want to thank the students and the community
for their tremendous support and attendance. The gym
was packed to the rafters. In addition, a
big THANK
YOU to the MOB, the Cheerleaders,
the Pacesetters and also Reliable Chevrolet. Drew
Albert was a $100 gas card winner and Amber
Roberts
won a $50 gas card from Reliable.
The loss leaves the Mustangs in a first place tie
with HP so the team must take care of business
Tuesday night in Terrell. The last away game is
Friday
against Rockwall-Heath. Make plans to attend
Senior
Night, the last game of the
regular season on Tuesday, February 12, against
Mesquite Poteet
and show your appreciation for this
great group of guys and all they have accomplished!
Lady Mustangs Win Big All Week and Are Headed to Playoffs
Varsity
The best way to describe the Pearce Lady Mustang's win over Greenville Tuesday was "smooth sailing," especially for senior Katie Haynes,
who effortlessly scored 31 points (3 3-pointers and 6 for 6 from the line), plus several steals and assists. Greenville's Amanda Weyrick nailed
a shot from half court at the buzzer to leave the half time score 36-14, but that was as close as it got. Eleven of the 15 girl roster scored in the
75-32 win, including Megan Siebert's 4 straight jumpers, and Olivia Hulme (11 pts) and Caroline Weir both added 3s. Corrie Forcier (9 pts)
intimidated the Lady Lions by blocking numerous shots, while teaming with Haley Marstella to dominate the boards. This win puts Pearce at 8-4
in district, and moves them toward a second consecutive playoff start, while district leading West Mesquite took a 1 point loss to Forney to break
a 21 game district-win streak.
The Lady Mustangs can never be quite sure when the Highland Park Scots show up, what the game will bring. Such was the case Friday night.
The Scots definitely showed up to play but the Lady Mustangs played harder. On foreign ground, the Lady Mustangs played their game well.
Four players were in the double digits...Olivia Hulme had 14, Corey Forcier and Katie Hanes both had 12, and Alaska Mulder had 10. Leading
all four quarters, the Mustangs finished the game in style with a 53 - 25 victory over Highland Park. Can you say playoffs?
Junior Varsity
It was also an easy win for JV on Tuesday night as they defeated Greenville 67-27. Four girls scored in double digits...Kat Kimmell had 20 points,
Sara Witcraft had 15, Victoria Kennedy had 12 and Emma Tiedemann had 10. On Friday night the JV Lady Mustangs met up with the
Highland Park Scots on their court and came away with a victory. After being down at the half by 1, the Lady Mustangs came out strong the
second half and defeated Highland Park 37-28. Sara Witcraft led the scoring with 13 points, Kat Kimmell had 11 and Keile Miller had 6.
Victory is sweet.
Come out Tuesday and watch the Lady Mustangs defeat Terrell in their final regular season game. We will be honoring our
seniors and will have halftime performances by Stampede and Stomp
baseball camp next month for elementary kids
JJ Pearce baseball will
host a
camp on February 24th, from 1:00 to 4:00 for 2nd
through 6th graders. The camp will be led by
the JJ Pearce Baseball coaches
and players. Cost is
$35.00 and proceeds will benefit the Pearce Baseball
program.
