PEARCE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION - ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Continued academic excellence at J. J. Pearce depends on you.  Your investment in the Excellence in Education Fund, J.J. Pearce’s Academic Booster Club, will yield significant returns for our students, faculty and community. 100% of your fully tax-deductible contribution goes to the J. J. Pearce Excellence in Education Fund.  In the last couple of weeks JJP has been recognized statewide in Texas Monthly and nationally in US News and World Report as a high performing high school!  Please consider end of the year, tax deductible gifts to ensure Pearce stays one of the top high schools in Texas.

Happy Holidays from the members of the PEEF Board!

Students needing a T.E.A. form for Drivers Ed or to renew your driver’s license:

T.E.A. forms can be picked up 24 hours after you sign-up for one in the counseling office, Room B109.  If you need this over the Winter Break, you must sign up no later than Thursday, Dec. 20  and pick it up no later than 4:00 Friday, Dec. 21.  The counseling office, Pearce High School and the RISD Administration Building will be closed Monday, December 24 until Monday, January 7, 2008.  The T.E.A. form is good for 30 days from date issued.

parent advisory council to meet in january

Do you have a question for Richardson ISD related to general topics of concern in the school district? If so, please submit it by January 6, 2008 to Susan Schweikert (PAC Rep) and she will make sure it gets presented to the RISD administrators at the next Parent Advisory Council Meeting in January. Please submit the question and any backup details related to the question.

change in winter break this year

Please don't forget that the last day of classes prior to winter break is this Friday, December 21. The first day back for both students and staff is Monday, January 7. Due to the Texas legislature mandating the late summer starting date of the academic year, the first semester will not conclude until January 17, which means semester exams will not occur until after winter break. Please help pass the word about this departure from what has happened in the past.

LAST CHANCE TO ORDER YOUR BRICK!!!!!

You have heard all about it -- its been in the Enews, on the marquee, in the Dallas Morning News, and announcements have been made at basketball games, at PTA, at Exchange Club and many other places -- BUT YOU ARE ABOUT TO MISS OUT!!

The Legacy Brick Campaign ends December 30th for this school year.   If  you want a brick for your state playoff football player, your state competition band member, your 2008 grad, or your otherwise wonderful student, teacher, Pearce alum or coach this is it.  You know you won't remember to order during the school break so get out your checkbook and fill out your order form (attached) NOW.

Details -- It is $50 for each brick ordered.  You pick your logo and what the brick says. Many families are ordering for all their Pearce students at once -- past, present and future to get their bricks together in this first section opened.  You need a separate order form for each brick ordered.  Specify if you want certain bricks together.  The form explains where to send it and answers most questions.  You will not want your student left out when the new plaza is dedicated next spring.

The Chairmen of the Brick Campaign are Roni and Don Briggs. Questions please contact Sally Field at (972) 387-1914.

Wrap up Some Pearce Spirit

Pearce Spiritwear makes great gifts for the holidays.  Remember the whole family; mom & dad, grandparents and younger siblings with a new Pearce hoodie, t-shirt, polos, shorts, cap or Mustang Car Medallion.

The Pearce Mustang Spiritwear store is open every Friday during lunches.  You may also contact Lisa Albert  or Tricia Gold   to place your order.

Varsity Players interested in ordering Letter Jackets.

The representative from All-Star Jacket will be at Pearce on Wednesday, December 19, from 4:15-6:30 for ordering and fitting.  You will need to review the packet and make choices prior to showing up on Wednesday.

Letter Jackets are NOT required, just an option for the varsity players that would like to order.

If you already have a jacket and would like to order patches, you can also do that Wednesday. You may want to verify that your jacket was ordered from All-Star so the patches match your other patches.

If you are interested in purchasing a Letter Jacket, packets are available outside Coach Robertson’s Office.

Please complete the packet prior to Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

The Mustangs came out with a strong performance and took a 61-49 win over the 5A Euless-Trinity Trojans on Tuesday. The balanced scoring from Kaba (14), Parker (13) and Smith (12) made it difficult for the Trojans to focus on any one player.  District play kicked off against Forney on Friday and Pearce continued their winning ways. Parker was hard to stop scoring 23 points as the Mustangs rolled to a 62-44 win against the Jackrabbits.

The Mustangs will travel to Allen on MONDAY, Dec. 17 for a tough, non-district match-up and return home on Friday for their first District home game against West Mesquite.

WINTER BREAK SCHEDULE: THURSDAY, Jan 3  HOME against GREENVILLE

SATURDAY, Jan 5 AWAY against HIGHLAND PARK!

LOTS OF BASKETBALL OVER THE HOLIDAYS! Be sure to catch your favorite team suiting up for holiday tournaments.  Varsity heads to the Coca-Cola Tournament at Loos Field House in Carrollton on Thursday, Dec. 27 - first game is 1:30 against Spruce.  JV will participate in the Plano Tournament held at Vines High School. First game is at 3:00 against Lewisville.

WINTER CLINIC for boys and girls in first through sixth grades.  Join the Pearce coaches for their last clinic of the season to work on ball handling skills, shooting and free-throws. Clinic is 1-4 on Jan 12 in the main gym.  Participants will receive a t-shirt, autographed poster from the varsity players and have a chance to be a ball boy at a home game. Cost is $35 before Jan 5. $40 afterwards. Walk-ups welcome. Contact Kathy Shoope or 972-234-0851 or Susan Parker or 972-385-6106.
