Mustang Tennis Team

The Mustangs traveled to Rockwall Heath last Tuesday to take on the Hawks as district action continued.  Pearce came away with another solid performance 

winning 18-1 in matches played and bumped the season and district record to 9-2 and 2-1.  With 2 district opponents remaining as a tune up before the district 

tournament, Pearce is setting its sights on a showdown with Highland Park for the District and Regional Championships.

Varsity – at Greenville, Tuesday, 9/30 – 4:15 pm

Megan Siebert placed 7th in the 5A Division at the Jim Baker Invitational Cross Country Meet in Rowlett with a time of 12:10. That time would have won 1st place for the 4A Division!    Kendall Howen ran a Personal Best with a time of 13:30.  The Varsity girls (Megan Siebert, Kendall Howen Celia Beron, Allison Kirkland, Victoria Smith, Allison Arnold and Anne Hightower) placed 7th overall as a Team in the 5A Division.  The Varsity boys (Drew Cotten, Tom Dolan, Edward Rutledge, Adam Torres, Vishal Bokram and Brian Thoreson) placed 9th overall as a Team in the 5A Division.  Their times keep improving.  Keep up the good work as we get ready for District, Regional's and State!! Thank you to Coach Michael Seibert for his commitment as their new coach to working so hard with this team!

PAC offers RISD parents and guardians an opportunity to present district-wide issues to the Superintendent, top administrators, and representatives of the Board of Trustees. PAC meetings are designed to address topics of concern that are of district-wide interest.

As your 2008-09 PAC Representative and Alternate, we will attend the meetings in order to present your district-wide questions and concerns.

Please share your questions and concerns with us and we will present the issue at the next PAC meeting and get back to you personally regarding PAC’s response

We must submit questions and concerns 2 1/2 weeks in advance of each meeting, so please notify us of questions or concerns by the dates below:

Due by October 1, 2008 for meeting on October, 21,2008

Due by January 1, 2008 for meeting on January 20, 2009

Due by April 1, 2008 for meeting on April 21, 2009

Your participation will be kept strictly confidential, and although we must have your name in order to pass the question along – your name will be left off the form submitted to the district PAC chairman. The PHS PTA helps improve the education of our students by providing support to PHS  students, faculty and staff. Join PTA to help students on this important journey to adulthood.

PTA welcomes parents, teachers, school friends, grandparents, neighbors and students as members.

MUSTANG MUM STORE - The last full day of sales is Thursday, October 9th.

The store will be open until 8:00 pm. The absolute final sales date is Friday, October 10th.  Please note the store will close promptly at 3:00 pm.

After Friday, Mum Kits will be sold. You will receive the basic mum and may purchase trinkets. However, you will be responsible forthe finishing!

RECORD YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS NOW

Our school will get the recognition it deserves!  Simply go to the PTA website at www.jjpearcepta.org and click on 'Volunteer Hours'.  You can get to this website quickly from the link at the top of this enewsletter. OR email your name, the dates and hours you worked, and the activity to one of the email addresses below. 

Volunteer Hours include attending meetings, baking, and helping with any school event—anything that you or your student

does for Pearce that does not result in a grade.  Always include 15 minutes driving time to and from school—and keep track

of the time you spend running errands on behalf of a school event.  You may record your hours in a combined total and enter

a general description of your activities.

If you signed in at the event, those hours have already been submitted and should not be duplicated.

Concerned about School Finance, new GPA formulas, 4x4???

Texans have raised their hands for stronger schools and brighter futures.  What we can do is encourage as many people (parents, teachers, neighbors) to sign up for Raise Your Hand: Stronger Schools. Brighter Futures.

Raise Your Hand Texas  is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to supporting public schools. They are a bipartisan group of business (HEB, TI and AT&T to name a few) and community leaders (our own Anne Foster, former RISD School Board President, is Executive Director),parents and tax payers committed to:

. Celebrating the successes of our public schools.

. Defending our public schools from unfounded and unfair criticism.

. Strengthening our public schools by seeking additional state resources
and making practical suggestions that will provide a safe and effective learning
environment for all Texas Children.

Raise Your Hand Texas is asking all concerned parents to just add their name to support this cause...to help strengthen Public Education for all children in Texas.

Take a look at their web site, sign your support and forward it on to 5 friends. Raise Your Hand Texas is not asking for financial support or contributions, and you may receive an e-mail periodically to keep you updated on their progress. Raise Your Hand Texas is not a PAC (Political Action Committee) nor do they support any particular candidates. Our Texas PTA is working with Raise Your Hand Texas on some joint projects since both groups have very similar goals.

The Richardson Symphony Orchestra Honor Guards are looking for a few good men who need some community service hours (or a little boost on their college resumes)!  Fulfill your philanthropy requirements and usher a few concerts a year – surrounded by beautiful Symphony Debs!  For more information, contact Peggy Beil at pbeil@louisbeil.com or 972-489-1515.
